Treatment overview Liposuction is a surgical procedure by which excess fa tis manually
broken up and then vacuumed out of the body through a rigid, hollow, blunt – ended tube
called a cannula.
Cannulas have holes near the ends through which the fat is suctioned. Liposuction is also known as suction assisted lipectomy or liposculpture and lipoplasty. Liposuction is neither an antidote for obesity nor a substitute for diet and exercise. It is best suited to remove isolated fat deposits that do not readily respond to conventiona weight-loss efforts.
It is important to keep in mind that all of these techniques are equally viable, but your body type is crucial when deciding what is the best option for
you. Your surgeon will evaluate both benefits and risks in order to make final decision.
